Step by step
Pick a connection for your setup
For a nearby operator, consider the local browser remote or a paired controller. For wrist control, use a compatible Apple Watch. A cloud remote is useful when the operator is elsewhere and both sides have internet access.
Connect before positioning the iPhone
Pair Bluetooth devices through their normal setup and open the relevant remote option in CueCam. For local browser control, connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi and follow the address shown by the app. Do not assume a guest network allows devices to communicate.
Use the app’s pairing instructions
For cloud control, follow the code-based connection shown in CueCam and remote.cuecamapp.com. Share the pairing code only with your operator. Local Wi-Fi control and cloud control are different connections; choose one deliberately.
Rehearse the exact commands
Test play and pause, returning to the start and changing scroll speed where supported by your chosen remote. Check what happens when the controller disconnects or the screen sleeps. Available commands differ between remote types.
Record a short rehearsal
Position the phone, start the script from the remote and finish a short passage. Play back the take to check audio and framing. Keep a manual way to pause or restart if the connection drops.
Try this with your next recording
For a lesson filmed alone, place the phone at eye level and rehearse with Apple Watch. For a two-person shoot, let the operator control the script from a browser. Confirm the connection again after moving rooms or changing Wi-Fi.
What to check before you record
Cloud Remote requires a network connection and is not an offline feature. Local control depends on network permissions; Bluetooth range and supported commands vary. Check the current app and device requirements before buying a remote.
